Sustainable Kilkenny, ireland presented to Mayor Martin Brett, Commissioner Malcolm Noonan and Commissioner Dr. Patrick Crowley painting by Jill Karlin Butler presented September 17, 2013
Jill Karlin Butler was invited to present Ekotecture in Kilkenny, Ireland addressing St. Francis Abbey site donatated by The Smithwicks Brewery, Diageo Company to County Kilkenny. The Commission is deeply concerned that the site be carefully conceived with the future of this heritage city in the balance.
Jill Karlin Butler was invited to present Ekotecture, and showed Kilkenny how the community can come together to create a sustainable Kilkenny. In this depiction, Karlin Butler proposes The Butler University of Sustainable Architecture and Technologies to reside at the site. In addition she proposed a new transportation system, utilizing the ancient idea of “The Round Towers (of which 25 exist in all of Ireland including a concentration in County Kilkenny, one at St. Canice’s). Jill proposes a new kind of Round Tower, which is a living wall,, constructed so that the plants growing on the tower some of which, edible. The towers themselves serve as “gondoloa” stations for the transportation of visitors throughout the city with towers located at key locations in the inner city as well as the outskirts where shopping and heritage tourism sites abound. Karlin Butler also poroposes a Medical Faculty located on the grounds of the former Asylum. On the St. Francis site Karlin Butler is proposing a “Green Living Learning Laboratory, with Art faculty, Animation, Film,Laboratory for development of all the new sustainable technologies, School of Architecture, Theatre, Sculpture Gardens. This bold new and creative endeavor is gaining support, and being developed internationally.

Lake Worth is amazing place where the Mayor has even spent time painting on this mural when the entire community came together to create a masterwork, from age 5-95.

Web Site News…
Quick update… the gallery section on my new site is starting to take shape… earlier this week, the House Portrait, Dolphins and Abstracts were updated… today, the gallery areas containing: India, Peaceable Kingdom, Italy and Flowers have been updated.
My web designer added a News & Reviews section… read the review of my work by Dr Lasha Darkmoon , stay posted for additional updates in this area too!

UK News – Art@Utopia – Exhibition Extended
Just a quick note for those of you who like my work, and live in the UK, I’ve just been informed by the curator of the Art@… Exhibition Programme, that my exhibition @Utopia, has been extended to 30th October 2013 – so there is still time to see works specially commissioned for the show. My UK works will be shown in Colchester early in 2014. Stay tuned for more news.
